Actor Choi Chul Ho apologizes for lying and violent act

As announced earlier today, CCTV footage had shown actor Choi Chul Ho kicking a woman in public despite his earlier denial that he had never performed the deed.

Choi Chul Ho left an apology message through the website of MBC drama, Dong Yi, which he is currently acting in.

These were his words of apology,

“I am deeply sorry for the fans who have showed their love and support towards the drama, Dong Yi. As a well-known celebrity, I made a huge mistake.

It’s my fault that I have denied doing these actions earlier, and because of that, I am extremely sorry for those fans who have supported Dong Yi.

Up until now, a lot of people have been showing their love and interest towards me, but I have ended up doing a stupid deed.

To the hard-working director, script-writer, the staff, the cast, and mostly to the dedicated and loving fans, I offer my deepest apologies.

Because of me, the production of Dong Yi has been damaged, and my heart truly aches because of that. I’m sorry.”

Choi also appeared in a press conference at Seoul Palace Hotel this evening to show his remorse in person,

“I was worried about losing my popularity after gaining it just last year. This thought (lie) just flashed across my mind when it happened (violence). I’m sorry especially to my family, fans and everyone and I offer my sincere apologies.”

Choi will not be charged after the female victim decided to not pursue the case.

Choi has also decided to voluntarily withdraw from Dong Yi, so as to minimize damage to the drama. He will take time off to reflect instead.

  1. you evil man.
    “i’m gonna lose my popularity~!”
such a girl! grow some balls!
you were just scared to pay
    for what you did!
    don’t freakin apologize to us!
    go beg forgiveness from that
    victim!

  2. oh man. i hope this doesn’t hurt the remaining episodes of dong yi… he’s such an important character too. sigh.

  3. Honestly, it’s kind of hard to take this apology seriously after he vehemently denied that he assaulted the women. Celebs these days seem to think they can get away with their crimes, but justice shall prevail!

  4. it’s nobody’s fault but his own. however i am glad that he apologized, whether he was sincere or not. i just hope he did apologized to the woman he acted violently towards…

  5. If that how he acted when getting drunk, we sure dont know how he acted getting drunk at home. what he will do to his wife and child.

  6. We all make mistakes. Plain and simple. Not that I’m saying that he was right, but saying that he needs to end his career, or go to jail? Honestly guys, I think taking a long break is the right thing to do. He CLEARLY wants to move forward. He’s apologized. What more do you want from him?He was indeed wrong, but I commend him for at least admitting it, and for apologizing to anybody who was impacted by the situation. That’s my opinion.

  7. what the heck 3nooyteuk, if he’s supposed to be a good person he wouldn’t push someone of the floor and kick them. don’t let ur love for him blind u he should go to jail, if they just let him go he could do it to someone else.

  8. Stop it people!!!
Your comments are too mean and harsh!what do u mean by GO TO JAIL? End his career? Everyone makes mistakes and learn from them, as long he won’t do it again then there is nothing to worry about, he’s an actor with a family. He have a wife and son, it won’t be nice for his wife to read these comments, judt forgive and forget!! He’s not bad person so stop it. He’s a great actor and I like him so shut up u freaks!

  9. So basically he’s like “Oh snap I haz been caught — SWITCH TO DAMAGE CONTROL MODE”

bla bla bla apologies. Weird to switch from “in denial” to “apologetic and reflective”.

He’s kinda done. Too bad. He gratuitously hits a woman and gets away with it. I know some idols who have been PROVOKED and fought back in a fight they didn’t even start, and got shit from it… ..so unfair.

  10. he said he a well-known celebrity. Not!!!!

  11. did you guys watch the cctv?
HE only apologized because sbs was able to get the cctv footage and air it . sbs even interviewed him at the police station and all he said was if they send out the wrong reports they were going to get it.

he was in such a good spot but wow his true colors show. you kick and hit a woman?

this apology ain’t goin to cut it

  12. This guy has a head full of bricks for sure.

  13. “@77
Don’t do that double standard thing. If a woman hit a guy, he can easily block her and stop her. If a man hit a woman, she would probably get knock on the ground. That’s why men shouldn’t hit women. It’s the physical different. And most women don’t tend to get so violence and resort to fist fight.”

not completely true that a woman can’t hurt a man physically. and no, i’m not saying that its ok to hurt women, definitely not, but that should be the case for everyone (whether a man or a woman) unless its for self defense.

Why would hurting a woman be of a different level from hurting a man assuming that both are not fighting back nor did not do anything to warrant an attack?

Point is, no one should attack anyone, unless its for defense.

  14. @ 162. I know
He apologized to the fan, ok
but not the woman who he attacked.
    That just wrong.
She won’t press charges on you, and yet u didn’t apologize to her.
If i was her and he didn’t apologize to me, the hell I would press charges.
    That jerk.
I lost my love to him. sorry

  15. This guy..honestly..what the hell was he thinking…

Hitting the woman was bad enough but he decided to lie about it.
That’s what disgusts me the most. If he admitted that he hit the woman in the first place, and apologized to her, then the situation wouldn’t have been this bad.

And now he decides to apologize, but he doesn’t even apologize to the woman.

    .. im speechless

  16. Doesn’t really cut it, but at least he’s trying.

  17. He wouldnt have to apologize for lying if he didnt in the first place!! He should apologize to the victim as well..

  18. Can you imagine what this guy does in private to women? Whether drunk or not, you are responsible for your actions.

  19. i personally felt he did sorry for getting caught too ,if not the footage were captured by the cctv.guess he will denying it to the end.Anyway,at least he knew that wa sa stupid move to be done,Tho being drunk is a lame excuse, and i do agree just dont lose your control no matter how stress you are,or at least just bound yourself in certain area where u cant hurt the public or others if u need so called tension release.

  20. My question is why did he kick this woman? He didn’t say sorry to the woman…How does his wife feel? He lied and he expects his fans to just forgive him. Forgiveness is a process. I really fill bad for his wife and child. You don’t do things like this. I am so disgusted…

  21. so ……. wheres the apology to the victim? you know, the girl that he kicked?

why apologize to everyone else but her?

  22. eyey don’t be so hard on him
    he’s genuinely sorry

genuinely sorry that he got caught ahahahahahah
    he’s done for
he should’ve paid someone to write a more convincing apology
    anyways he’s a nobody

  23. it kinda bothers me that he didn’t apologize publicly to his victim (the girl he hits) but to everybody else, especially the people in his current drama & his fans….

  24. i feel bad for him. and its really nice of him to withdraw from the drama. He has a very good character

what he did was wrong for sure but he seems genuine

  25. I can´t understand people saying that being drunk is an excuse are you serious !??!?!? I´m trying to get into their logic but I just can´t do it, if you are an asshole drunk then don´t drink or go to get drunk in an empty space where the only people you can harm is yourself.
Do you even know how many family abuse is product of the alcohol ? don´t tell me that is a justification being drunk please !

  26. … why’d he kick her anyways ++”
